About FPH

First Peoples’ House is considered “a home away from home” by the community of 1,400+ Indigenous students at the University of Alberta.

Developing first points of engagement with language and culture for these students will help to create a stronger Indigenous community on campus. First Peoples’ House currently offers cultural programming to connect students with their language in an organic way, as well as Cree tutors for further academic support. The enrichment of this language and cultural pathway can create a ripple effect that extends beyond the university community — as students achieve their personal and academic growth, they become productive and healthy role models, enriching and uplifting their communities and their workplace.
